Tesla messing up deliveries in Colombia

tesla mess up deliveries in colombia

The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) ordered Tesla Motors Colombia S.A.S. to adjust several aspects of its commercial operations in the country after identifying potential risks for consumers in the online sale of electric vehicles. The investigation stemmed from a preliminary ex officio inquiry into the company’s activities since entering the Colombian market in November 2025, including the review of more than 23,700 customer orders and complaints.

The SIC identified potential issues related to delivery delays —with more than 1,800 vehicles still pending delivery despite being scheduled for February and March 2026— as well as potentially misleading information regarding warranties, reservation conditions, and the availability of “Supercharger” charging infrastructure. As a result, the authority ordered Tesla to correct the information provided to consumers, strengthen its customer service channels, review contractual clauses, and implement measures to prevent further unjustified delivery delays.

The case is significant because it reflects increased regulatory scrutiny over e-commerce platforms and new vehicle distribution models in Colombia.
