The National Institute for the Surveillance of Medicines and Food (INVIMA) has issued Resolution No. 2025010547, establishing a Contingency Plan aimed at expediting the processing of sanitary registrations and related procedures.
This six-month measure seeks to address administrative delays exacerbated by cyberattacks and operational limitations. Key strategies include the enhanced use of technology, the reallocation of personnel, and the prioritization of medicines at risk of shortage.
Procedures affected by the 2022 hacking incident, in which data was encrypted, may be archived. However, applicants will have the opportunity to resubmit the required documentation at no cost in order to proceed with their applications.
According to INVIMA, the plan is designed to strengthen health security and improve the efficiency of registration management, ensuring more timely access to essential medicines and biological products.
The agency will continue to oversee the implementation of the plan to ensure its effectiveness and to reduce processing times. At this stage, the measure will apply only to procedures related to medicines. It does not yet cover other regulated product categories.
