The 2025 National Award for the Colombian Inventor, organized by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, recognized the ingenuity and innovation of inventors from across the country. This year, COTECMAR won the Industry category with a testing bench for submarine, ship, and industrial valves, consolidating its leadership in technological development for the naval, maritime, and river sectors.
The award, held since 1983, also honored projects such as a potable water treatment system (Individual Inventor), a robotic hand for carpal tunnel relief (Youth), biofilms made from vegetable waste (Women Inventors), a dendrometer for tropical agriculture (Micro and Small Enterprises), and organic batteries developed from agro-industrial residues (Research). The ceremony featured the participation of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), reaffirming the importance of innovation as a driver of equity, sustainability, and economic development for Colombia.
