The Colombian Congress approved the bill that regulates the commercialization, consumption, advertising and use of electronic cigarettes and vapes.

The bill consists of extending the restrictions contemplated in the “Anti-tobacco Law” to this type of products. This means that the restrictions on advertising, the prohibition of smoking in enclosed places of public access, and the implementation of measures to prevent tobacco consumption, will now also apply to this type of products.

Among others, this law will regulate:

  • 9The implementation of warning seals on packaging and advertising.
  • 9The prohibition of sale to minors under 18 years.
  • 9The restriction of sales in vending machines and dispensers in easily accessible places.
  • 9The limitation of advertising in the media, social networks and other media.
  • 9The restriction of sponsorships to sporting and cultural events by manufacturing companies.
Initially, companies that produce and commercialise this type of products will have one year from the date the law is enacted to adopt all the necessary measures for its compliance.
