Francisco Rossi Buenaventura, a medical graduate from the Universidad del Valle who previously served as the Deputy Director of INVIMA until March 2023, has been appointed as the new Director of the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (INVIMA) by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. His appointment was formalized through Decree 0205 of 2024.
Rossi Buenaventura’s assumption of the directorship of INVIMA comes at a critical juncture, as the institute maintains its pivotal role in safeguarding public health and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in Colombia. Furthermore, the new Director remains committed to accelerating administrative processes within INVIMA to alleviate backlogs, enhance efficiency, and proactively address medicine shortages—a pressing issue affecting public health and access to essential treatments. He aims to achieve these objectives through close collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, distributors, and healthcare providers.
