Latin America is advancing rapidly in technology governance. In Ecuador, the Superintendencia de Protección de Datos Personales issued Resolution Nº SPDP-SPD-2025-0034-R, establishing a technical and methodological procedure for the annual evaluation of the country’s Data Protection Law. This framework strengthens oversight by measuring compliance, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring the law’s effectiveness across regulated sectors.
Meanwhile, Peru approved the Regulation of Law 31814 through Supreme Decree Nº 115-2025-PCM, promoting the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. The regulation sets principles of transparency, accountability, and human oversight, defines prohibited uses, and mandates labeling of AI-generated content.
Together, these measures reflect a growing regional commitment to balancing innovation with fundamental rights protection. They also highlight the role of supervisory authorities in fostering trust and guiding companies toward ethical, secure, and transparent digital practices.
