The Eolo Supercargo, an all-Colombian 480-kilogram electric vehicle, has become the first car of its kind to obtain registration in the Registro Único Nacional de Tránsito (Runt), allowing it to circulate legally in Bogotá and the rest of the country. This milestone not only marks a significant advance for the electric automotive industry in Colombia, but also highlights the legislative challenges faced by domestic vehicles.

Obtaining registration for the Eolo Supercargo was not a straightforward process. The entrepreneurs behind the project, brothers Nelson Javier and Mauricio Roldán, faced significant challenges, including the difficulty of complying with legal requirements previously only met by large multinationals. Despite these obstacles, visibility on social networks and community support allowed the Roldáns to initiate a fruitful dialogue with the Ministry of Transportation.

This achievement opens the way for other national ventures in the automotive sector to register their vehicles more easily, eliminating barriers that had slowed down the development of the local industry. The inclusion of Eolo Supercargo in the Runt symbolizes a step forward for Colombian entrepreneurs, who now have a clearer path to make their innovations in sustainable mobility a reality.
