The Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (“ICT”) has presented Bill 447 of 2024 with the aim of promoting the responsible use of data for the development of public policies and the production of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in Colombia.
The bill aims for Colombia to become a leader in digital transformation and AI development, ensuring the privacy of stakeholders. The initiative proposes that State Entities produce relevant and anonymous data, without names or surnames, for use in governmental decision-making and the country’s technological advancement. According to the Ministry of ICT, it is expected that the bill will be discussed in this legislative period, and if approved, would apply to both public entities and private individuals performing administrative functions and managing state resources, with the expectation of involving the private sector in the future.
