Invima ensures the supply of medicines

streamline procedures

INVIMA announced the issuance of Resolution No. 2025046281 of September 19, 2025, by which the validity of the Contingency Plan adopted in March of this year is extended for six months. The purpose of this measure is to continue reducing the backlog of sanitary registration procedures and associated processes, as well as to ensure the availability of medicines and strategic products for public health.

According to the report presented by the entity, between January and August 2025, a total of 8,579 procedures were completed, equivalent to 54.8% of the applications filed during this period. However, as of August 30, 12,305 procedures were still pending, making it necessary to extend the plan.

The resolution establishes prioritization criteria aimed at mitigating the risk of shortages, especially in medicines declared as vital but unavailable, vaccines for the prevention of acute respiratory diseases, and strategic products for public health. It also includes provisions on the addition or replacement of manufacturers and procedures related to medical gases.

With this decision, INVIMA reaffirms its commitment to regulatory efficiency, transparency in processes, and the protection of Colombians’ health. It also seeks to consolidate progress achieved in its relationship with the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring that citizens have timely access to safe, effective, and high-quality medicines.
