judicial affairs division

María Fernanda Navas Herrera has assumed the role of Deputy Superintendent for the Judicial Affairs Division at the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC). She holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where she also completed her specialization and master’s degree in Insurance Law. Additionally, she holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Civil Law from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Private Law at the same institution 1.

Additionally, the entity is currently within the framework of a selection process that began in 2023, led by the National Civil Service Commission, and aimed at filling positions across various superintendencies, including the SIC. This process is now in one of its final stages, as the lists of eligible candidates for the positions offered -both through internal promotion and open competition- have already been published 2.

As a result of this process, new officials are expected to join the SIC to assume judicial functions as judges, responsible for hearing cases related to consumer protection, industrial property infringement, and unfair competition within the Judicial Affairs Division.
