Considering that a large portion of the Colombian population uses the internet, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce issued the “Citizen’s Guide – Recommendations for Keeping Your Personal Data Safe in the Digital Environment” which offers a series of useful tips to help users of digital platforms and mobile devices safeguard their information.
This guide is particularly divided into ten key areas, which include, but are not limited to: implementing encryption techniques to enhance security; strengthening the security of search engines to enable safer internet use; obtaining programs and mobile apps from their official websites or stores to ensure secure downloads; and backing up information by following the “3-2-1 backup rule” recommended by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT).
In this way, the guide promotes individuals’ fundamental right to protect their data, reinforcing the stance that without security, there is no protection.
