Industrial property fees for 2026

industrial property fees 2024

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, as Colombia’s authority in matters of industrial property, issued the updated fees applicable to procedures effective as of January 1, 2026, which reflect a 5.19% increase.

These fees cover services related to patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, trade slogans, and appellations of origin, including both national procedures and international applications processed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and the Madrid Protocol for the international registration of trademarks. The resolution also clarifies the applicable rates when invoking the well-known status of a mark in opposition or cancellation proceedings, expanding the scope of this procedure.

The updated fee structure maintains economic benefits for SMEs, higher education institutions, certified artisans, ethnic communities, and beneficiaries of post-conflict or business-strengthening programs, who will continue to receive discounts ranging from 25% to 50%. These incentives also apply to those who participate in training programs through the Intellectual Property Learning Hub (Aula de Propiedad Intelectual) or receive guidance from the Industrial Property Information, Technology, and Management Center (CIGEPI) or the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (CATI).

With this measure, the Colombian IP Authority seeks to maintain a balanced, transparent, and economically consistent fee system, ensuring the sustainability of industrial property services in the country.
