The Court of Justice of the Andean Community (TJCA) announced the appointment of María Ángela Sasaki Otani and Rodrigo Javier Garrón Bozo as new judges for the 2026–2032 term.
The TJCA is the supranational judicial body of the Andean Community of Nations, with its permanent seat in Quito, Ecuador, and operates independently from national governments to declare Andean law and ensure its uniform interpretation and application in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, particularly in matters related to trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and copyright.
Among its main functions are actions for annulment, non-compliance actions, preliminary rulings, and actions for omission or inactivity. It also has labor jurisdiction and arbitral powers. Through these competencies, the Court safeguards community interests, resolves disputes arising from the application of Andean law, and contributes to legal certainty and normative cohesion within the regional integration process.
