(Part I): your payment was rejected by Citibank<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we reported in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.olartemoure.com\/en\/om-weekly-digest-22-09-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OM Weekly Digest of 22 September 2016<\/a><\/span>, and due to Citibank&#8217;s decision to close Venezuelan Government bank accounts for dollar transactions, the Venezuelan\u00a0Patent and Trademark Office (SAPI in Spanish) did not receive the payment in dollars of intellectual property prosecution fees made by foreign applicants between August to October 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SAPI&#8217;s solution\u00a0(officialized by means of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sapi.gob.ve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/aviso_oficial_20161108.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Official Notice issued\u00a0on 8 November 2016<\/a><\/span>) was to grant a\u00a0deadline of 1 month -until 8 December 2016- to pay in new accounts the IP filing and prosecution fees that were rejected in the Citibank account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the other hand, the SAPI wants to confirm all payments made to the Citibank account (Both those made in 2015 and even those made prior to the closing of the account). \u00a0Accordingly, before 31 December 2016, the vouchers or certificates of payment in dollars made to the Citibank account must be filed before the SAPI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">s .<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>VENEZUELA\u00a0| Intellectual Property, Patents, Trademarks\u00a0| Official Fee Payment Odyssey in Venezuela &#8211; (Part II): new payment instructions<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By means of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sapi.gob.ve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/aviso_oficial_transferencias_dolares.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Official Notice\u00a0issued on 3 November 2016<\/a><\/span>, the\u00a0Venezuelan\u00a0Patent and Trademark Office (SAPI in Spanish) established that the payments of fees in foreign currency (dollars) must be made in its new account in the Societe Generale Bank. \u00a0The transfers will be in favor of a beneficiary bank (ItalBank International INC) and must be noted that the SAPI is the final beneficiary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SAPI warns that a maximum of ten filing and prosecution fees can be paid per bank deposit, \u00a0and\u00a0also\u00a0recommends to make the transfers 48 hours before the filing or procedure, in order to confirm payments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information, please see the Official Notice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">y \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>LATIN AMERICA, WORLD | Trademarks\u00a0| The new edition (11th) of the Nice Classification will be in force in 2017<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Starting 1 January 2017, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/web2.wipo.int\/nef\/en\/project\/1481\/NC017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the 11th edition of the Nice Classification<\/a><\/span> of Goods and Services will be in force. \u00a0Its entry into force country by country may vary (in the case of Colombia and others Latin American countries, will enter into force in the mentioned date).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Within the most relevant changes,\u00a0\u00a0(i) the\u00a0class 29 includes only oils for use in food, (ii) the class 31\u00a0changes from kitchen roots to roots for animal consumption and (iii) class 44\u00a0includes extermination of parasites in the aquaculture. \u00a0Also, the transfer of class of certain products was made, like medicated soap and disinfectant (from class 3 to 5), bracelets for medical use (from class 5 to 10), needle-threaders (from class 8 to 26) and nutcrackers (from class 8 to 21).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In summary, 377 additions, 53 deletions, 209 changes, 20 transfers and 12 changes with transfers were made. \u00a0Except for classes 23, 33 and 38, all others were subject to change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wipo.int\/classifications\/en\/news\/nice\/2016\/news_0004.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">we recommend to see this link<\/a><\/span>, and also the next 2 documents (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.olartemoure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/nc017-a04_ibli.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;1&#8221;<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.olartemoure.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Specific-changes-to-10th-edition-of-NICE-Classification-Version-201628-7-16.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;2&#8221;<\/a><\/span>) in &#8220;.xlsx&#8221;
