The decision highlights the agricultural value and importance of mangosteen produced in this region of Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>The application was submitted by regional institutions like Chamber of Commerce of Honda, Guaduas and Northern Tolima, the Regional Center for Productivity and Technological Development of Tolima together with the municipality of San Sebasti\u00e1n de Mariquita. The designation identifies the fruit produced in several municipalities in northern Tolima, where factors such as climate, soil conditions, and the traditional knowledge of farmers contribute to a product with distinctive qualities.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition protects the use of the name \u201cMangostino de Mariquita,\u201d preventing its improper use by producers outside the recognized area.
