The statement follows the widespread circulation, in early 2026, of AI-manipulated images on social media, some containing non-consensual sexual content, which has reignited the global debate on privacy, consent, and the responsibility of digital platforms.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, the SIC led an initiative within the International Enforcement Working Group (IEWG) of the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) to coordinate a joint statement reflecting the concerns of multiple personal data protection authorities. The document emphasizes that <a href=\"https:\/\/olartemoure.com\/en\/colombia-ai-policy\/\">generative AI systems<\/a> must be developed and used in accordance with applicable legal frameworks, particularly <a href=\"https:\/\/olartemoure.com\/en\/data-protection-framework-to-be-modernize\/\">data protection and privacy<\/a> regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The signatory authorities also urged organizations that develop or use generative AI to implement measures to prevent the misuse of personal data, ensure meaningful transparency regarding the functioning and <a href=\"https:\/\/olartemoure.com\/en\/responsible-ai-and-biometrics\/\">limits of AI systems<\/a>, and establish effective mechanisms to remove harmful content. They also highlighted the need to adopt strengthened safeguards to protect children and adolescents.
