Mar\u00eda del Socorro had been serving as the Interim Superintendent since January 2023, and her extensive experience within the SIC was a key factor in her ratification.<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda del Socorro is a highly qualified Colombian attorney specialized in commercial law, public law, intellectual property, copyright, and new technologies. She also holds a master’s degree in international business law. With over 25 years of experience, Mar\u00eda del Socorro has held various positions within the SIC, including serving as the Executive Director of the Trademark Office.<\/p>\n
As Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, Mar\u00eda del Socorro will be entrusted with overseeing the proper functioning of markets by ensuring free economic competition and protecting consumer rights.
