WIPO recently announced the launching of its\u00a0new AI-powered technology for identifying trademark image similarities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The tool, based on machine learning algorithms, works as a search engine that identifies the combination of concepts within a trademark image (e.g. \u201can apple, an eagle, a tree, a crown, a car, a star\u201d), to find similar trademarks to the one under review.<\/p>\n

The new development represents a major breakthrough for trademark searching tools, as earlier generation technologies were merely able to identify image similarity based on the shape and color of the signs involved.
