Alexander obtained a B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia) in 2000, cum laude. In 2006 he received his M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with emphasis in pharmaceutical technology, from the Université de Montréal (Montréal, Canada).  In 2015, Alexander received his law degree from the Universidad Politécnico Grancolombiano (Bogotá, Colombia). He started his professional career at the Colombian Patent Office (Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio), where he held the position of Patent Examiner in the pharmaceutical area for more than 3 years. Since 2006, he has been part of OlarteMoure, where he held the position of Director of the Patent Department, coordinating a technical-legal team of more than 40 professionals for more than 1 year. He is currently a Partner of the firm. Since 2009, Alexander is frequently invited by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to participate as a tutor in international patent drafting training workshops. He also collaborates with WIPO since 2012 as a tutor in the online course ‘Patent Drafting’ (DL-320). Alexander also teaches Intellectual Property at several universities in Colombia. Alexander is highly specialised in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors, with practice in Latin America in general (+18 countries). With more than 20 years of practice in Intellectual Property, he is an expert in patent searches, drafting, prosecution and litigation. He has extensive experience in the study and exploitation of technological information in surveillance processes and freedom-to-operate analysis.
